There is no responsible one-price answer
The total depends on your parish, location, programmes, class size and whether the space already meets your needs. The most useful approach is to separate one-time setup costs from recurring monthly expenses.
Typical setup categories
Before committing, obtain real quotations for the space and programmes you plan to offer.
- Lease deposit, renovation and signage
- Classroom furniture, practical stations and equipment
- Registration, professional and administrative costs
- Initial marketing and launch materials
- Programme-specific products, tools and safety supplies
- Technology, printing and student-record systems
Do not ignore monthly operating costs
Rent, utilities, educator compensation, administration, cleaning, marketing, internet and restocking continue whether a cohort is full or not. Build a cash reserve instead of assuming the first tuition payments will cover everything.
The Adore licensing investment
The current Adore licensed-partner fee is J$350,000, with a J$17,000 monthly operational fee. These amounts cover the licensed relationship and support framework; the partner remains responsible for location, staffing, equipment, marketing and other operating costs.
Prepared applicants should therefore have funding beyond the licence fee and a realistic local operating budget.
Build a sample startup budget
Use quotations from the actual parish and property. The figures below are planning categories, not promised market prices.
- Property: deposit, rent, electrical or plumbing work, paint and signage
- Learning environment: chairs, tables, practical stations, storage and sanitation
- Programme equipment: lamps, beds, mannequins, devices, tools and starter consumables
- Operations: registration, professional services, software, internet and printing
- Launch: photography, website, local advertising and enquiry follow-up
- Reserve: funds for fixed expenses before cohorts reach stable enrolment
Estimate cost by programme, not by room
A room may look ready while the programme is not. A nail class, makeup class, loc class and healthcare practical each require different workstations, ratios, cleaning processes and consumables. Create a separate equipment and replenishment schedule for every programme.
Simple break-even example
Suppose a cohort is expected to contribute J$600,000 in tuition after realistic payment collection. If direct cohort costs are J$230,000 and its share of rent, administration and marketing is J$170,000, the estimated contribution before tax and unexpected costs is J$200,000.
Now repeat the calculation at 70% of expected enrolment. If the programme becomes unviable immediately, the price, class size, schedule or cost structure needs adjustment before launch.
What the Adore fee covers and excludes
Adore’s current initial licensing fee is J$350,000 and the monthly operational fee is J$17,000. The partner must still fund the location, staffing, equipment, local marketing and normal operating expenses.
For that reason, J$350,000 should never be presented as the total cost to open an Adore location. Prepared applicants need a complete launch budget and working capital beyond the licensing payment.
